Kinesiotaping is a form of elastic taping developed by Dr Kenzo Kase. The adhesive on the tape is applied in waves, which lifts the skin and fascia allowing for better blood circulation and lymph drainage. The elasticity of the tape provides freedom of movement unlike rigid taping that was traditionally used.
The tape is available in a variety of colours and can be applied in numerous manners and tensions depending on its purpose.
Kinesiotaping can be used for the treatment of a variety of conditions including stabilising the joint, promoting muscle contraction and decreasing swelling.
